Applied Psychology, Cognitive Psychologist, Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure-Track/Tenured

The Department of Applied Psychology offers an undergraduate degree in Applied Psychological Studies and graduate degrees in School Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Psychological Development with faculty working in a variety of domains that include counseling, clinical, developmental, educational, health and social psychology. Our mission emphasizes the relationship between research and practice, broadly defined as clinical practice, policy, and community and school level interventions.

The Department seeks a Cognitive Psychologist with an active research agenda in public schools for a position as a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor.

The mission of the Department of Applied Psychology at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture Education and Human Development is to prepare students to understand and intervene in human development across contexts and cultures. Our faculty conducts research using multifaceted strategies, and we draw on our experiences in practice to help guide the work that we undertake.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a discipline of psychology; preference will be given to individuals with degrees in cognitive, school, developmental, or educational psychology. A strong candidate will have an active research agenda that includes work in schools, and a record of (or potential for) external funding.

Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising and mentoring students, overseeing a research team, and supervising doctoral dissertations.
