Master Teacher of Teaching and Learning

Maura Gouck

Maura Gouck is an Urban Master Teacher with thirty years experience in NYC public secondary schools. She served as a cooperating teacher for students from both public and private universities. This interest in teacher development continued at NYU in her work with the Teaching Fellows Program for which she provided on-site support for those new teachers. She also serves on the Office of Clinical Studies team that oversees supervision of NYU's pre-service students. As co-director of the Early Career Project (ECP) she contributes to the design of professional development for recent NYU graduates. ECP workshops enable participants to meet the educational needs of English language learners and special education students in their classes. ECP is one of a number of NYU programs aimed at supporting and extending the retention of teachers in urban settings, especially NYC. As director of the Fast Track Program, Maura will work with faculty, the Office of Clinical Studies, and participants in ongoing projects to further improve the preparation of teachers committed to public education in urban schools.
