Research interests include 19th and 20th century American newspapers, media and the built environment, advertising history, crime and the media, and the political economy of the media industries. Aurora received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communications from McGill University , Montreal, and her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She was a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) doctoral fellow (1996-1998), and Fulbright Foundation Fellow (1998-2000). She is the author of Newspapers and the Making of Modern America (Greenwood 2005).
