Master Teacher of Drama Therapy
Maria Hodermarska's work spans both the creative and applied psychological uses of the theater arts in community-based mental health programs and substance abuse treatment programs for underserved populations. She has presented and consulted nationally on trauma, violence, substance abuse, and drama therapy to a variety of universities, community organizations and health institutions, including the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Yale University and Duke University, the American Association of Mental Retardation, and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, and has lectured at NYU Silver School of Social Work and Union Theological Seminary. She is a licensed creative arts therapist, a registered drama therapist, a credentialed alcoholism and substance abuse counselor, and an internationally certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor, and has held leadership positions in the National Association for Drama Therapy. She has taught in the graduate program in drama therapy at NYU Steinhardt for more than sixteen years.
