Gareth James was born in London in 1970 and moved to New York in 1997, where he was enrolled in an independent art study program at the Whitney Museum. Since then, he has held a several didactic positions at the Whitney Museum, Cooper Union School of Architecture, and Columbia University. James' art has been exhibited widely in the US and Europe in solo and group shows. His multimedia sculptures are socio politically and economically saturated to portray his most valued virtue: Honesty. He's worked in varied mediums from large paper sculptures, to photography, to sculpture integrated with video and audio elements and rubber installations. He has been exhibited several times over the years at New York's Elizabeth Dee Gallery, most recently in a show titled: "When a Financial Institution Collapses There is No Spectacular Outpouring of Gold—Glass Transition Temperature", where his foundation of knowledge of French philosophy and the scarcity of resources were explored.
