Date Posted: December 23, 2004
Close to 500 teachers, administrators, students and faculty involved in dual language curriculum programs attended the Dual Language Symposium on December 16 and 17, 2004.
The symposiums were rated highly by attendees who learned more about how to implement dual language programs in the local school systems. The event was the second in a series supported by: Maria Santos, senior instructional specialist at the New York City Department of Education; Jesus Fraga, director of Dual Language Programs at the New York City Department of Education; Dr. Joan Dawson, director of NYU's Equity Assistance Center (EAC); Robert Durkin, project associate (EAC), and Miriam Eisenstein Ebsworth in the Multilingual Multicultural Studies program of Steinhardt's Teaching and Learning department.
"NYU's support and commitment to Dual Language is of endless value to the children of New York City," said Fraga.
Faculty involved in the program include Pedro Noguera of the Metro Center for Urban Education and Frank Tang of Multilingual Multicultural Studies.
