All Steinhardt students initiating a UCAIHS (University Committee on Activities Involving Human Subjects) application for any research study are required to follow the internal clearance process.

Funding and Mentoring Program for Full-Time Ph.D. Students
The Steinhardt School offers all full-time Ph.D. students who matriculate in September 2010 or later a complete funding and mentoring program. All students offered admission to our Ph.D. programs are awarded a full funding package and are assigned to a faculty mentor. There is no special application required.

Mitchell Leaska Dissertation Research Award (pdf)
The Mitchell Leaska Dissertation Award honors the memory of Mitchell Leaska who was Professor of English at the Steinhardt School for more than 40 years. This fund awards $5,000 non-renewable stipends to help students in financial need complete their doctoral dissertations. Awards are available to students whose doctoral programs are in mathematics education, science education or doctoral programs in applied psychology (counseling, developmental, PSI), educational sociology, or social studies education.Steinhardt Doctoral Dissertation Grant
The Doctoral Dissertation Grant competition provides support up to $1,000 for the completion of the dissertation. Doctoral candidates with approved dissertation proposals, and in good academic standing, are invited to apply for the grant to support data collection directly related to their dissertation work. Proposals will be judged on the basis of their scientific merit and feasibility.

The Steinhardt Doctoral Student Travel Fund provides a maximum of $500.00 for expenses associated with presenting papers at scholarly and professional conferences. Reimbursement is limited to expenses for travel, food, lodging, and conference fees. Steinhardt doctoral students who meet the criteria outlined below are encouraged to apply for funds by filling out and returning the required application to the Office of Research and Doctoral Studies in accordance with the following deadlines:
Spring semester: February 1st
Summer semester: May 1st
Fall semester: October 1stSteinhardt Doctoral Fellowship Proposal Summer Development Award
The goal of the program is to support doctoral students in the development and writing of a fellowship or grant proposal, which will be submitted to external funding sources in the next academic year.
Proposals will be judged on the basis of their scientific merit and fit with the selected external funding source. The students must be enrolled in a doctoral program at New York University’s Steinhardt School. Preference may be given to proposals to external agencies that are underway and for which feasibility is demonstrated.
Steinhardt Undergraduate and Master's Students Research/Creative Project Awards
Outstanding undergraduate or master’s Students at NYU Steinhardt are invited to apply for the Steinhardt Undergraduate and Master’s Student Research/Creative Project Award. Students may be awarded up to $500 to conduct a research study or creative project under the supervision of a faculty member. The proposed research or project must be conducted within the time specified, and adhere to guidelines established by the University Committee on Activities Involving Human Subjects. Award recipients are expected to submit a written report of no more than 5 pages by July 1st of the year following the award. The report should include a summary of the work undertaken, products created, and how the funds were used.

Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
The Trudeau Foundation seeks Canadian students in the first or second year of a doctoral programs in social sciences and humanities. The foundation seeks to support doctoral candidates pursuing research on one or more of the Foundation's four themes: human rights and dignity, responsible citizenship, Canada in the world, and people and their natural environment. Each scholarship is valued at $40,000 per year for three years, plus up to an additional $20,000 annually to support research-related travel.
Kellogg Health Scholars Program
The Kellogg Health Scholars Program seeks to develop new leadership in the effort to reduce and eliminate health disparities and to secure equal access to the conditions and services essential for achieving healthy communities.
Through this Program, leaders will emerge with the competence to undertake research adding to our knowledge about the nature of social disparities in health and about interventions to reduce those disparities; the capacity to partner with communities in carrying out research and building policy advocacy; and the skills to inform and support policy makers who seek to reduce and eliminate health disparitiesNYC Leadership Academy Spring Internship
The NYC Leadership Academy (http://www.nycleadershipacademy.org/) is an independent non-profit organization that recruits, develops, and supports effective school leaders, with a focus on preparing principals to lead New York City's hardest-to-staff schools. The NYC Leadership Academy is looking for a Graduate Assistant for the spring semester (mid January until late May preferably).
