Doctoral Studies

Welcome to the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.  We welcome you to our school and look forward to working with you as you achieve your doctoral degree.  

We are extremely proud of our doctoral students and strive to make your experience with us one that will empower you with the knowledge, skills, and associations necessary to succeed in your field.  Experience conducting research that is rigorous, methodologically sound, and meaningful should reside at the center of doctoral study.  As a school that embodies the connection between theory and practice we also hope that we will help you conduct research that seeks to improve the human condition.  

Our office, in cooperation with the Office of Student Affairs, plans events and holds numerous meetings during the course of the academic year where you will have an opportunity to meet other doctoral students at Steinhardt.  Engagement will help you develop a network within the School’s doctoral community.

Funding and Mentoring Program for Full-Time Ph.D. Students

The Steinhardt School offers all full-time Ph.D. students who matriculate in September 2010 or later a complete funding and mentoring program. All students offered admission to our Ph.D. programs are awarded a full funding package and are assigned to a faculty mentor. There is no special application required.

The Office of Research

The Office of Research at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development promotes the tenets of research and supports the faculty with the foundations and tools critical to engage in scholarly activities which broaden the understanding of the world around us and which seek to improve the human condition.
