Welcome
Welcome to the website for the Project for Developing Chinese Language Teachers (Project DCLT) of New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, funded over three years by the Freeman Foundation. This initiative will provide services to school districts, individual schools and teachers to meet the growing demand for Chinese Language programs and teachers in K-12 schools in the U.S. The goal of the project is to develop and train qualified Chinese language teachers who are capable of establishing and sustaining Chinese Language Programs, and to work with schools and districts toward the same end. DCLT News
DCLT's first forum of the 2008-09 school year was a great success! On Friday evening, October 3, more than 40 teachers and teacher candidates packed the room for Pat Lo's interactive presentation on the new A.P. standards and themes and discussed creative ways to incorporate them in the classroom. Pictures of the event can be found here.
Hold the Dates for our next events: Election Day Professional Development on Tuesday, November 4, will focus on assessing oral proficiency in younger students and on project-based learning. On Friday, December 15, another chance to meet your colleagues and share ideas at our Year-End Forum & Holiday Party at NYU!
DCLT member Robin Harvey presented at the Westchester Conference on Chinese on Friday, September 26 at Ardsley Middle School. Approximately 20 schools and school districts were represented at the conference, which was designed to assist Westchester schools interested in establishing Chinese programs.
