Communicative Sciences and Disorders

Small Talk Language Lab

Welcome to Small Talk, the Language Development & Disorders lab in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at NYU. In this lab we study typical and atypical child language development. The lab director is Dr. Christina Reuterskiöld, who has published extensively in the area of child language disorders. Dr. Reuterskiöld's work has involved studies on language processing in children with SLI, children with hearing impairment and children with autism spectrum disorders. Her current work focuses on idiom learning in typically developing children, the effect of increased cognitive demands on speech motor control in typical speakers, and contextual effects on language production in children with ASD.

During the fall semester 2012, lab meetings are bi-weekly in the department teaching lab. Students who are interested in getting hands-on experience with any aspect of the research process are encouraged to contact Dr. Reuterskiöld.
