Erasmia Benakis, M.A., CCC-SLP-TSHH is the externship coordinator of the master's program in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Ms. Benakis oversees the off-campus clinical training of approximately 150 graduate students annually within NY as well as out-of-state. She has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses as an adjunct clinical instructor for the past 8 years and has supervised students in the on-campus clinic.
As a clinician and clinical supervisor, Benakis has worked with people across the lifespan in a variety of settings that include the Northshore/LIJ health system, Maimonides Medical Center, United Cerebral Palsy, Young Adult Institute (YAI) and in private practice. She has also served as a case manager while working as a speech-language pathologist for adults with acquired brain injuries at Transitions of Long Island.
