  • Description: Introduces students to diverse populations in our society & to explore how differences among both individuals & cultures in terms of gender, age, race, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, religion, language, dialect or country of origin, can affect interpersonal & group communication, as well as clinical practice. Topics devoted to improving cultural competence considerations for understanding, evaluating & remediation of communication & swallowing disorders in culturally & linguistically diverse (CLD) populations. Designed to improve effectiveness as a clinician with diverse clients & to help prepare for today‚Äôs workplace setting that often includes individuals from different backgrounds.
