Focuses on the historical development of public service & commercial broadcasting; political elite's’ attitudes towards television; key concepts employed in the Italian media (lottizzazione, pluralismo); the conflict of interest issue; & current & past legal frameworks for the television & media markets. Course will be useful for all those interested in Italian politics & society, as well as all those who are interested in the media in comparative context.
