Some of the topics that will be covered in class include: taming nature; industrializing the farm; applying science to the food problem; & the social cost of the system. Students will learn about the development of industrial farming practices, environmental issues surrounding industrial agriculture, the politics of food production, & the human cost of inexpensive food.
