• Description: Arts organizations rely on the support & sponsorship of public & private agencies & individuals. This course focuses on current issues & approaches to building public understanding & legislative support for the arts, & examines the context & growth of arts advocacy in the U.S. Students will develop hands-on skills to initiate & sustain effective relationships with policy makers & other arts stake holders. Topics include cultural policy, the arts economy, political structures & processes, coalition building, cultural diplomacy, as well as internet & media advocacy
