  • Description: The analysis of policy issues in education using the tools of microeconomics. Particular attention will be paid to the empirical methods social scientists use to rigorously test the effects of education policies & to make predictions about the impact of future policy changes. Sample topics for discussion include: social resources & their impact on students? test scores & other life outcomes; the operation of teacher labor markets; school finance; the impact of major finance reforms on student outcomes & school behaviors.
