| Description | This seminar examines the portrayal of food, food intake, dieting, body image, & health as communicated through various forms of contemporary popular culture, including advertising, print, media, television, the internet, film, & restaurant design. Students will also explore methods in communication studies (such as semiotics & critical theory) commonly employed to analyze the complex interactions between food & all kinds of expressions of popular culture. |
