Photography as Art
Traversing Boundaries: South African Visual Culture and Democracy Location: Beijing and Shanghai, China Make photographic art in traditional still, digital or video methods. We study essential indications of the deep-seated traditions in these cultures as well as understand how those traditions are changed by rapid social need. We work together with innovative artists who are dealing with disruption as they see methods of living in these societies undergo stress and confusion. In the process we will come up with innovative photographic art. Your trip will allow you to witness these changes and see how they might apply to your own individual needs as a student and artist. This program, started in 1996, welcomes undergraduate and graduate students and professionals in the field of photography and video.
