The M.A. in Studio Art: Summer Program in Berlin
is currently under faculty review.
This course of study requires 36 points and can be completed in three full-time summer semesters, with a minimum of 12 points per semester. The M.A. program welcomes approximately 25 students each summer from diverse cultural backgrounds. This rich mix of perspectives provides an important stimulus toward establishing an interactive creative environment.
A limited number of non-degree special students are accepted depending upon space availability. Interested candidates should contact the Office of Global Programsfor more information.
Art Theory Track (July) - 6 points
Occurring during the month of July, this four-week track allows students to enrol in six-credits of art theory coursework.
Studio Art Track - 6 points
The Studio Art track requires students to complete the summer semester in Germany, during which time they will enroll in the courses, "Studio Art" and "Graduate Studio Critique." This six-credit track will allow students to spend hours in the studios and have their work critiqued by NYU faculty, visiting artists, and curators. A final exhibition will occur at the end of the term with a catalog of the students' work.
Advanced Certificate in Studio Art
Non-degree students who wish to study in Berlin may also want to consider the Advanced Certificate in Studio Art. The Advanced Certificate is a 12-credit program of study grounded in contemporary research and practice that combines cultural theory with contemporary artistic processes. Through a core Interdisciplinary Graduate Projects praxis course and three advanced studio electives, students will hone their artistic and conceptual skills and enhance their portfolios while also addressing the larger philosophical and cultural implications of contemporary artistic activity.
Students in the Advanced Certificate in Studio Art may complete their credits in Berlin and/or New York. For more information about the Advanced Certificate.
