The Department of Art and Art Professions offers studio programs for MFA, BFA and Minor degrees that integrate technical skills with theoretical understanding within the context of a world-class university setting. Studio Art studies are interdisciplinary, with facilities in painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, computer art and design, video, ceramics, metalsmithing, and installation.

The BFA Program is designed to offer you intensive and innovative studio art practice, combined with an outstanding education in the liberal arts.

Dual Degree

This dual degree allows undergraduate students the opportunity to pursue a masters degree and teaching certification while they focus on their art practice.

BFA Facilities

Barney Building facilities include studio classrooms and workshops for sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing, ceramics, metalsmithing, and sewing. In addition, the building has photography labs, a fabrication lab, digital labs, and printing studios.

Exhibition Spaces at Barney: 
The Commons 
is an exhibition and performance space with beautiful two-story clerestory windows. Rosenberg Gallery is our white-box space for installations. Student exhibitions change every 2–3 weeks.
