Why should you give to the NYU Steinhardt Art Department?
Because young artists belong in Downtown New York
The NYU Steinhardt Department of Art & Art Professions is one of the most innovative art programs in the country - combining the vibrant energy of downtown New York with the intellectual resources and global reach of a great research university.
Because we need your help
As a University that has achieved world-class status only recently NYU does not have the large endowments of traditional ivy league schools, and we need your help to offer scholarships to students in need. By every standard, NYU's transformation from a conventional commuter school to a top-ranked research university has been remarkable. With your help, the NYU Steinhardt Art Department can include talented artists from all backgrounds, truly realizing its potential as the Art School of Downtown New York.
Because we have visionary teachers who care about their students
NYU Steinhardt Art alumni range from Ross Bleckner, Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Joel Shapiro to Carol Bove and Nate Lowman. Students in the Studio Programs this year will study with Sue De Beer, Jesse Bransford, Trisha Donnelly, Peter Campus, Maureen Gallace, Lyle Ashton Harris, Keith Mayerson, Kevin McCoy, Paul Pfeiffer, Jack Pierson, Adam Putnam, Gerry Pryor, Aida Ruilova, Kiki Smith, Hiroshi Sunairi, Judith Schwartz, and John Torreano.
Because artists should know the world
NYU Art students understand the world in new ways by spending one or more semesters abroad at ArtSites in Berlin and Ghana, or studying in Shanghai, Paris, London, Buenos Aries, Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi, Prague, Madrid, or Florence.
Because artists help to keep us honest
Please support scholarships for the next generation of young artists.
The Steinhardt Friends of Art
The NYU Steinhardt Friends of Art group was formed to enable exceptional young artists to attend NYU Steinhardt's Art Programs. Members make a minimum annual contribution of $5,000, which goes directly to fund scholarships for outstanding applicants who would not otherwise be able to finance their dream of studying art at NYU. In recognition, Friends are invited to share in the extraordinary energy of the program with special events each semester in our galleries and studios, hosted by faculty and alumni.
