Confidentiality
In order to support the members’ freedom to experiment in whatever way they believe will best further their own learning, staff members will not report the behavior of individual members to anyone outside the conference without members’ authorization. Members are encouraged to maintain the same degree of confidentiality.
Members
Traditionally, those who attend conferences of this kind are known as “members.” While this term will continue to be used, in the context of Power and Authority in Groups and Organizations, the role of members will be much more akin to that of explorers with all the connotations that are implied. The role of members is to learn and to take up some personal authority to support the learning of fellow members.
The conference is an open enrollment event. Past conferences have included people from academia, business, law, mental health, government, the arts, international development, the military, foundations, faith-based organizations, and activist worlds, to name a few.
Staff Role
Traditionally, the role of the staff is to act collectively as the management of the conference. We will serve as consultants to your learning while continuing our own learning. Our role is to provide opportunities for learning about our experiences in groups both in the “here and now” and “then and there.”
