Hope White, President
I am a senior in the Applied Psychology program and am very excited to be the president of APUG this year! I am currently a research assistant on Dr. Shabnam Javdani’s Community Oppression Research and Engagement (C.O.R.E.) team and Co-Editor of the Applied Psychology Online Publication of Undergraduate Studies (OPUS). Under the mentorship of Dr. Javdani, I am conducting an honors thesis on the role of parenting and early puberty on the development of Disruptive Behavior Problems in African American female adolescents. Previously, I worked as an Extern at NYU’s Family Translational Research Group and as a counselor at the NYU Child Study Center’s Summer Program for Kids, a therapeutic camp for children with ADHD and related disorders. I have also worked on the Child Study Center’s Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Team as a Team Coordinator. In the future, I intend to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions about APUG Club or life as an APUG student at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Irene Fosu,Vice President
Hi, my name is Irene Fosu and I am currently a sophomore in the Applied Psychology program at NYU Steinhardt. After graduating, I hope to attend medical school and become a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. Outside of NYU, I enjoy teaching middle-school-aged students, running, and meeting new people in general. I am excited to see what this year will bring, and to become acquainted with new and current students within the program!
Mila Hall, Community Service Chair
My name is Mila Hall, and I am currently a senior in the undergraduate department of Applied Psychology at NYU Steinhardt. My interests outside of psychology include visual art, museum curation, fashion design, residential life, and travelling (which I do frequently, due to the fact that my family lives in Luxembourg, a small European country). I am currently in the process of applying to graduate school, and am hoping to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in order to further explore my primary research interests of trauma and post-traumatic growth, building on the research I'm involved in at NYU. I can’t wait to meet the incoming class of Applied Psychology students and help them achieve as many of their goals as possible (coffee and food will definitely be involved).
Shanice Hamilton, Treasurer
Hi there! I'm currently a sophomore in the Applied Psychology undergraduate program at Steinhardt. After graduating, I hope to get a Master's degree in occupational therapy. I grew up in Jamaica and ventured out on my own for the first time when I moved to the US to start my first year at NYU. Along with moving to a new country, I'm also a commuter student. I spent the past year learning and adapting to a vastly different environment than the one I was accustomed to. I've had a number of experiences and grown a lot (and continue to!), so if you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. I'm looking forward to a fun year and meeting you at our events!
