About this Event

Steve DeFrank studied painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the School of Visual Arts in New York. He began exploring the use of childhood lite-brite pegs first as paintings and later in three dimensions using specially dyed pegs. Currently he abandoned that practice and began working with casein, a medium that uses the protein in milk as a binding agent, which is difficult to apply, and requires meticulous execution. He has recently been added to the artists at Margaret Thatcher Projects where he will present his first solo show for the gallery on September 11-October 18th. His work is also in the permanent collection of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as Clementine Gallery and Clifford Smith gallery in Boston. Images of work: http://www.thatcherprojects.com/
