The ECT program currently has approximately fifty Master's and twenty doctoral students with very different backgrounds but a common interest in cognitive science and meaningful technology-mediated learning.

Master's students usually spend three semesters taking courses and working towards their Final MA Projects. These projects are presented in a departmental colloquium and open to all ALT faculty and students. Doctoral students spend several years in the program and enjoy the opportunity to share and exchange ideas with leading scholars in the field.

• Graduate Student Organizations

  For relevant information on events and academic programs you can visit the Graduate Student Organization Web site. Among other student services, this organization provides funds for traveling to conferences and/or events related to our field through grants opportunities.

  They provide general information on graduate student issues such as the on-going negotiations between the university and the graduate student union.

• Jobs

  ECT graduates have access to a wide range of jobs in both academic and business fields. Many master's students, for example, begin their professional careers through the ECT Internship program, where they spend a semester working in a company based in New York City. Thus, they are able to put into practice the expertise they have acquired in the ECT program.   The department also maintains a listserv where job openings around the country are regularly posted. For more information about the listserv and how to subscribe to it, you can contact Prof. Francine Shaw

  If you are interested in on-campus employment while attending NYU, you can visit the NYU Office of Career Services for additional opportunities. Furthermore, your academic advisor can provide you with information on assistantships available at NYU.

  The ECT Program is in the midst of an exciting period of growth. Part of that growth includes a dynamic aspect to our website which is interactive and allows students, faculty and ECT community members to upload information and customize the website for their own use.
