OECT Advisement & Registration for Summer & Fall 2009
The ALBERT online course registration system is open only for Summer Session 2009 at this time. Students planning to take summer courses must see their academic advisors before registering in ALBERT. Make appointments by the end of next week, Friday, April 10 to ensure seats in your course choices -- and to ensure that courses are not under-enrolled and, therefore, cancelled before you register!!
ALBERT opens on Monday, April 20 for Fall Semester 2009 registration, as noted in ECT DETAILS, No. 6 (along with important procedures related to registration, tuition bills, tuition refunds, etc.). All ECT students must make an appointment with their academic advisors in order to register and before using ALBERT.
ECT faculty registration appointments for Fall 2009 will begin on Monday, April 20. Appointment schedules for each faculty member, and instructions on how to schedule an appointment with them, will be posted in the next ECT DETAILS.
Both continuing and newly accepted students in the ECT Master of Arts and Certificate programs are welcome to schedule appointments beginning on this date. Newly accepted students will, however, also be invited to a group advisement and registration orientation to be scheduled for the last week in April.
On Steinhardt Financial Aid
Sent from Steinhardt Office of Graduate Admissions, March 31:
Financial aid letters for new master's and advanced certificate students are being mailed starting this week. This year we were able to be somewhat flexible in terms of the application deadline. Those who submitted their FAFSA by February 15 were considered for school-based scholarships. Those who applied later than February 15 will be considered for and packaged for loans only.
We are sensitive to the economic times and do allow students to appeal their financial aid. However, we review appeals and new student needs with the understanding that we have a limited budget. To appeal their aid, students may submit a letter/statement to the Financial Aid Committee, Office of Graduate Admissions (preferably by fax (212) 995 4328). Their statement should highlight two items: 1) their academic and professional accomplishments; and 2) their financial need. The Committee will review appeals shortly after April 15. Because most students have until April 15 to respond to our offer of admission, students appealing their aid will have to make their enrollment decision using what information they currently have.
