ECT Doctoral Research Study: Participants Needed

It’s easy, it’s fun, it pays you $10 - $20. This study investigates how people learn from interactive computer programs. You will use a short computer presentation and then answer some simple questions about the presentation. The entire process takes no more than 40 minutes, and on completion you’ll receive $10 for your time. If you can return for a 10-minute follow-up in about 3 weeks, you will get an additional $10 at that time.

If you are over 18 years old and comfortable communicating in English, and would like to participate, please sign up at: It is the first study listed on that page, with a long list of appointment times. OR if appointment times listed online are not convenient, please contact
Ruth Schwartz RNS221@nyu.edu for an appointment.

The faculty sponsor for this project is Dr. Jan L. Plass , Program in Educational Communication and Technology.

Movies as Tools at German Schools

I am a Lecturer from the University of Bremen (Germany) and do research on movies as a tool at school. In order to compare how teachers in Germany and teachers in NYC use movies in their classes, I designed a questionnaire. I would appreciate it very much, if you could take this survey. It is very easy to handle and it takes only 5 to 10 minutes to fill it out.

Here you find the link to the survey:

I am further interested, if you know if there are any curricula for movies at school.

Thank you very much for your time and for your help.

All the best,

All sessions are led by expert librarians and take place in the Bobst Library computer labs on Lower Level 1. Classes are scheduled twice a day, every day, with early evening sessions for those coming from work or other engagements.

So if you're not going somewhere fun-in-the-sun for Spring Break, use it instead to make the rest of your semester a little less stressful with the help of a librarian. Find all the details and sign up at:

***** Endnote 2 Bibliographic Software for MAC OS and PC

NYU-licensed copies of EndNote, the bibliographic software, are available free to NYU faculty, administrators, staff, and students. EndNote 2, previously available through NYU for Windows computers, is now also available for Macintosh computers.

EndNote allows you to search, retrieve, and store citations from bibliographic databases such as ABI Inform, the Web of Science, Anthropological Literature, the MLA bibliography, or the catalogs of individual libraries. It can generate bibliographies, reading lists, and footnotes in a wide variety of styles.

To download the software, and for a link to recommended free updates for both the Windows and Mac versions of EndNote, please visit

EndNote is supported by NYU Libraries. Information on using EndNote can be found at http://library.nyu.edu/tools/endnote/

ECT Summer 2009 Courses: Correction

ECT will offer two Summer Session 2009 courses: One addresses how to design online learning environments, and the second examines how teachers can integrate media and technology in the K-12 curriculum for support and enhance learning.

We reprint this information to correct the "days" these courses are offered, as they were, in one publication, erroneously switched.
