As head of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, Dean Brabeck is responsible for helping to define and accomplish the school’s overall mission. In collaboration with the associate deans, department chairs, and program directors, the Dean responds to faculty and student needs and oversees decisions that ensure Steinhardt’s excellence in research, creative works, curricula, and outreach. Dean Brabeck is also responsible for communicating Steinhardt’s mission beyond the school community: She works with University leadership to ensure the school’s success in the context of NYU at Washington Square and as a global network university; and she represents the school at meetings and conferences both domestically and internationally. In addition, she helps to raise funds and build support for the school’s key priorities, including student financial aid, capital improvements, faculty, and academic programs.
Dean Brabeck has served as dean of the Steinhardt School since 2003. A leader in the field of applied psychology, Dean Brabeck serves in significant posts in professional organizations that include the National Society for the Study of Education and the American Psychological Association. Before coming to NYU, Dean Brabeck was a professor of counseling and developmental psychology at Boston College and served as dean of the College’s Lynch School of Education from 1996 to 2003. She received her Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota. She has published over 100 scholarly articles, books and book chapters and holds a Doctor of Humane Letters (Hon. Causus) from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. Dean Brabeck is the inaugural recipient of the Gale and Ira Drukier Deanship at the Steinhardt School.

Dean Carey oversees the Office of Student Affairs, which includes advisement and registration services, counseling and student services, teacher certification, and graduate studies administration. The Office, working closely with the academic units of the school and the larger University community, promotes student development through a range of programs, events, publications, and academic resources. It oversees policies and procedures that guide both undergraduate and graduate study, e.g. student academic progress, the Steinhardt Honors Program, student discipline, student awards and honors, and the New Student Seminars. The Office works closely with undergraduate and graduate student government and is part of the team overseeing financial aid.

He holds a PhD in quantitative methods in psychology and education and an an M.Phil in educational psychology from the Graduate and University Center of the City University of New York, an MS in education and human development from Hunter College, a BA in Biology and Psychology from Columbia University, and is currently pursing an advanced certificate in public health concepts form the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dean Kotlikoff leads NYU Steinhardt's annual fundraising efforts and alumni outreach initiatives. She works closely with Dean Brabeck, as well as Steinhardt's administration and faculty, to identify the School's most pressing needs and implement fundraising strategies designed to meet those needs. Barbara also works closely with her colleagues in NYU's central Office of Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) to effectively engage donors, parents, alumni, and friends of the Steinhardt School. She and her team host a variety of events and initiatives throughout the year that are designed to showcase Steinhardt's programs, faculty, and students.Kotlikoff has forged a highly successful career that includes experience in both the corporate sector and the not-for-profit sector. Before joining NYU, Kotlikoff spent eight years at The Paley Center for Media as Vice President of Development where she increased fundraising significantly. She partnered with trustees and industry executives to launch and develop SHE MADE IT: Women Creating Television & Radio, the largest programmatic fundraising effort in the Paley's history. Kotlikoff has extensive experience in corporate advertising and management and has served as president, CEO, or managing director for Parfums Nina Ricci, Inc., Harry Winston, Inc., and The Monet Group.

As the Executive Director, Leslie Brown serves as the lead financial officer for the Steinhardt School, working with the School leadership, departmental staffs, and faculty to manage fiscal operations. Leslie has a Masters in Food and Culture from the Gallatin School. Prior to joining Steinhardt, Leslie was the Budget Director for at the American Museum of Natural History and spent several years working on budgets for the City of New York.

Mary Beth Fenlaw oversees marketing and promotion efforts aimed at attracting prospective students and publicizing the image of the School. She employs a broad portfolio of marketing channels including advertisements, email campaigns, publications, social media, and market research to promote Steinhardt’s degree programs, summer initiatives, and study abroad programs. As a core member of the School’s integrated web and marketing team, Fenlaw co-leads strategic decision making and content development for the School’s website.
Prior to joining Steinhardt, Fenlaw spent several years forging a successful career in performing arts marketing, with positions at non-profit presenters including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Miller Theatre at Columbia University. She also served as consultant and project manager for Audience Insight, LLC (now Wolf Brown), where she managed and presented findings for The Magic of Music, a national, cooperative market research study of classical music consumers with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and fifteen American orchestras.
Fenlaw holds a B.Mus. in Music Performance (Clarinet) from McGill University and an M.B.A. in Arts Administration and Marketing from SUNY Binghamton.

Mary Beth Fenlaw oversees marketing and promotion efforts aimed at attracting prospective students and publicizing the image of the School. She employs a broad portfolio of marketing channels including advertisements, email campaigns, publications, social media, and market research to promote Steinhardt’s degree programs, summer initiatives, and study abroad programs. As a core member of the School’s integrated web and marketing team, Fenlaw co-leads strategic decision making and content development for the School’s website.Prior to joining Steinhardt, Fenlaw spent several years forging a successful career in performing arts marketing, with positions at non-profit presenters including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Miller Theatre at Columbia University. She also served as consultant and project manager for Audience Insight, LLC (now Wolf Brown), where she managed and presented findings for The Magic of Music, a national, cooperative market research study of classical music consumers with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and fifteen American orchestras.
Fenlaw holds a B.Mus. in Music Performance (Clarinet) from McGill University and an M.B.A. in Arts Administration and Marketing from SUNY Binghamton.

As Director of Field Projects, Lee Frissell is responsible for many of Steinhardt's (and NYU's) links to New York City civic organizations, especially public schools. He created the University's America Reads and Counts program and is oversees the placement and supervision of NYU America Reads and Counts tutors in the public schools (1000 student tutors in 100 public schools.) He also coordinates the College Preview program, which provides a way for selected high school students to take courses at NYU, and the College Connection program, which brings more than 3000 middle school students to visit NYU each year to help make them aware of the importance of going to college. Kathy Heins is the Director of Development at NYU Steinhardt. Heins previously worked as the Director of Development and Public Affairs at NYU's Institute of Fine Arts.
Heins earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, a master's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and pursued doctoral studies at IFA. She has held positions in the performing arts fields, serving as Senior Director and Director of Development at the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and the Theatre for A New Audience. Roger Ho has a wide range of responsibilities that directly impacts the current and future human capital needs of the Steinhardt School. He directs the recruitment and appointment processes for staff, research/training professionals, and adjunct faculty, oversees implementation of affirmative action searches, interviews and recommends candidates for all senior-level positions, and negotiates salaries. He oversees a small team and together they have created systems that improve the overall functioning of the HR processes throughout the School.
Ho also provides the Steinhardt leadership team with a broad range of organizational development and consultative services that includes departmental reorganizations, job creation, talent management, and all associated compensation matters. He is responsible for the resolution of employee relations and performance problems, and mediates work–related issues as he helps employees and teams to build constructive working relationships necessary to achieve the business goals of the School. Ho is a labor relations professional and manages the application of federal and state employment laws and the University’s Human Resources policies to the negotiation of varied employee agreements.
Prior to coming to NYU, Roger worked in HR leadership roles at the New York City Department of Health as the Assistant Director of Employment and Training, and at Hunter College as the Associate Director of Human Resources. He brings over 30 years of experience to his role.

David Zapotocky serves as the school’s registrar, providing information regarding both Steinhardt and NYU policies and procedures to undergraduate and graduate students for registration requirements, withdrawals, pass/fail and other grading options, maintaining matriculation, leaves of absence, payment options, and student status. He acts as liaison with the University Registrar, Bursar, Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of International Students and Scholars.
The Steinhardt Office of Registration Services oversees and monitors several honors programs such as the Undergraduate Dean’s List, Latin Honors, and departmental honors; as well as general academic progress of both undergraduate and graduate students. The Office also supervises registration for such programs as the Interuniversity Doctoral Consortia, Spring in New York, NYU Summer Session, Fast Track for Teachers, and Winter and Study Abroad Intersessions.
The Office of Registration Services also works with Steinhardt faculty on student orientation, advisement, registration, and discipline. It also provides services for course and program development and course scheduling, including maintaining the Inventory of Courses, overseeing classroom assignments, and providing overviews and reports on class enrollments, course scheduling, and course room needs.
David has been director since 1992, coming to Steinhardt from the NYU Chancellor’s Office where he managed faculty appointments and records. Prior positions at New York University include Assistant Director of Registration Services for the School of Continuing & Professional Studies, and Administrative Assistant of Administrative Services & Human Resources for the College of Dentistry. He is a New York State certified social studies teacher and has held the positions of Instructor of German and Lecturer of History with the School of Continuing & Professional Studies. He received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee in social studies education and an MA and PhD from NYU in Russian history and the history of education, with a concentration on the development of the college liberal arts curriculum.
